How to Apply

  1. Applicants must first file an exam application. Requests for accommodations will not be reviewed until the individual is deemed bona fide applicant for the bar exam or LLP exam evidenced by submission of an exam applicant for the current exam cycle. Applicants are encouraged to submit their accommodations documentation well before the accommodations submission deadline, to ensure there is time to process the submission, and to allow for sufficient time to provide the OAA with additional information if there is anything missing or unclear. Applicants should review our Accommodations Review Process and Accommodations Submission Flowchart. ALL accommodations documentation must be submitted by the deadline established for each exam cycle by the OAA. Late submissions, that are not based on emergent or unforeseen disabilities, will NOT be considered for any reason.

  2. Applicants should at the outset decide whether they want to use the STREAMLINED PROCESS or the STANDARD PROCESS and prepare supporting evidence that conforms to the Guidelines for one of these two tracks.
  3. Applicants should ensure that contact information is provided for each and every source of information to ensure the OAA can review it and follow-up as needed.
  4. In submitting accommodations documents, an applicant is representing that each digitized document is a complete and accurate representation of the original document. The OAA reserves the right to require production of the original of any uploaded document.
  5. Please note that many submissions are reviewed by an independent, external consulting expert.
  6. Submissions are reviewed in the order in which they are received. To be fair to all applicants, the OAA does not "expedite" its review of submissions.
  7. The OAA is unable to process incomplete or insufficient accommodations documentation. If incomplete or insufficient, meaning that it does not conform to the Category requirements and/or provide enough information that would allow the OAA to make a decision, the OAA will notify the applicant of the deficiencies via email.
  8. After the OAA has made and notified the applicant of a decision via email, if the applicant believes the OAA erred in its decision, the applicant may appeal to the OAA to ask for reconsideration. The applicant should include a specific reason for the appeal and additional documentation beyond what was included with the applicant's original submission.
